Roku streambar stuck on start screen (dancing Roku logo)

When I turn on my Roku streambar it displays the start screen (Roku logo with dancing letters) then the screen turns black then it repeats the same start screen it has never brought me to the setup page it has only displayed the dancing Roku logo. It does not say let's get started anywhere on the screen. I have tried power cycling and factory resetting 10 times now the light on the front of the Device is solid orange. I'm using a Sony Bravia TV older model it doesn't have the arc HDMI port the device is connected to the TV through the HDMI cable and and optical cable that comes with the device.

@PrimeThisJeffy

Since you went down the factor reset path, let's ensure you went all the way. Did you hold the reset button for a full 30 seconds? Not about. Not until such-and-such happened. A full 30 seconds.

If not, do that and get the full factory reset completed.

Not sure what might be the next step, but let us know if that resolved it, or if not, did anything change at all?

Yes I definitely held the button longer than 30 seconds still the same problem no changes. When I hold the reset button the light on the front changes white then green then after it shows the Roku logo once the light changes to red and it repeats the same thing Roku logo then black screen and repeat the model number is 9102x

Re: Roku streambar stuck on start screen (dancing Roku logo)

When its first purchased or after factory reset the remote first has to be paired to the streambar for it to control anything on the streambar. If you have Roku IR remote or universal remote with roku code it should control the streambar and allow you to set it up.

Re: Roku streambar stuck on start screen (dancing Roku logo)

That was not the issue at all. I resolved that issue by setting it up on a Roku TV which sent an update to the device before the setup. Now I have moved the Roku streambar to the TV I intend to use it on which is a Sony Bravia model number KDL-40W3000 manufactured Jan 2008. Now that I've finished the initial setup on the Roku TV I'm attempting to watch anything on the Sony Bravia TV however I can only see an HDCP Error 020 message. I've followed the instructions on the screen I've tried 7 different high speed HDMI cables that definitely work I've tried all 3 HDMI connections on the TV I've tried changing the display settings to 1080p and 720 p and auto detect I've tried unplugging the TV and Roku streambar I've tried resetting the Roku streambar I still get the same HDCP Error if I attempt to watch anything on any of my streaming services. It seems as though I won't be able to watch any content while connected to this TV despite the fact that the box that the Roku streambar comes in clearly states "works with any tv with an HDMI port"

One thing to consider is that it may not be that the Roku is incompatible with that TV, but rather that the TV itself has an issue with its HDMI port.

Alternately, it could be you have a defective Roku device. Maybe the Roku Streambar didn't get a proper update?

My Streambar (9102) has worked flawlessly, but it's on a newer TV. I have a family member with a Streambar Pro (9101) on a similar Bravia TV from around the same time (mid-late 2000s) and there has been no issue with it whatsoever.

There are enough things that could still be wrong. Troubleshooting to this point hasn't ruled anything out.

Do you have another Roku device, apart from a Roku TV? Do you have any device that was built by Roku, apart from the problematic Streambar? (Roku TVs aren't built by Roku; Roku only licenses the software to different manufacturers.) Do you have access to another Roku device? Friend, family member with a Stick, Express family, Ultra, or something else? Anything that could be brought to your Sony and connected? If multiple devices don't display on it, that leans to the Sony itself being the problem.

Perhaps others will have other suggestions to rule certain things in or out.

Re: Roku streambar stuck on start screen (dancing Roku logo)

The HDMI ports work. If they didn't work then I wouldn't be able to read the HDCP Error code 020. You're suggesting I use another Roku device to continue troubleshooting? I don't have access to another Roku device. Do you have any other suggestions to continue troubleshooting? How have I not rules anything out? The TV plays content through the HDMI ports from my phone so we have ruled out the defective HDMI ports. I've used 7 different high quality high speed HDMI cables so we ruled that out. The Roku streambar will play content on a high sense Roku TV so we ruled out defective Roku streambar. You said it could be that my Roku isn't compatible with my TV. So far that's the only option that hasn't been ruled out. Is anyone going to do any actual troubleshooting or are you just going to ask me questions until I do it myself?
