My local channels disappeared and I've tried every workaround here, plugging in my TV antenna where the cable TV would normally plug in, and could get nothing but five channels, NONE of which were ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, or even PBS. One channel was the local city's "calendar" and the other four were duplicates of local weather in four different cities.
I've used only Roku TVs in the past and had just purchased a 58" Hisense Roku TV last week. I'm likely going to return it because nothing is working as it should. Even when it says to hit the * button for more information, the remote simply makes a dull beep and does nothing whatsoever. I've even tried using my old Roku remote, which at "least" had a microphone button where I could say "Turn to channel whatever."
What happened in September with the Roku update that destroyed all settings? My local channels all worked FINE until this recent update. So many wasted hours, and hours, and days.
Hi @Ewing
Greetings from the Roku Community!
Thanks for letting us know about your trouble with your local channels. In this case, we recommend following the steps below to see if they help resolve the problem.
Please keep us posted on how this works for you, and we'll continue assisting you from there.
All the best,
Chel
Chel,
Thank you for your response. I followed your instructions to a T. It generated 5 channels. IowaPBS; PBSKids; World; Create; and IRIS.
I have Mediacom coming here tomorrow afternoon to see if there is something wrong with my internet service. I had NO problems whatsoever until my 50" Hisense Roku TV just died and I purchased a 58" Hisense Roku TV. (I only chose another Roku b/c I was so familiar with all the settings.)
This new one is a disaster. I'm having to use both the remote that came with the 58" TV AND the old remote b/c the new one .... and this almost hilarious in a way ... not only does not have the microphone with voice control, but has to numbers to punch in the channel, either.
This new TV does a lot of flickering and the screen goes black often. I would never ever recommend it to anyone.
Thank you, however, for your suggestion, and please let me know if there's anything else I might try. I will provide an update after Mediacom comes sometime b/w 1 and 5 pm tomorrow.
Sorry - meant to say the remote has neither a microphone to change channels NOR any numbers to manually enter the channel of choice. That's why I'm using the "old" Roku remote.
