Hello. I have been having extreme buffering issues with many of my apps recently. Netflix, Xfinity Beta Stream and Amazon. When I go back to check my connectivity, my signal is always strong, anywhere from 26 mnps to sometimes over 100. I connect to either a 2.4ghz transmission or a 5.0. The 5.0 obviously is stronger but unstable, causing unusual buffering. After researching, I discovered that the TCL6 is recommending that router channel settings for 2.4 recommend channel 11 and 5.0 recommends channel 157.
Xfinity does not allow their customers to manually change channel settings in their router. I have found when doing signal strength that when the Roku is receiving on other channels it is affecting my picture and frequently buffering. Is anyone else seeing this issue? I don't understand why Roku would not be stable on other channels.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks for the post.
Have you tried changing the wireless channel on your wireless router. It's possible that you are experiencing wireless interference especially if the wireless channel is commonly used by default.
For troubleshooting purposes, have you tried connecting your Roku TV to an alternate wireless network, such as a mobile hotspot, to see if you are experiencing the same issue?
Please keep us posted what you find out and we will be able to assist you further.
Thanks,
Danny
Hey, thanks for the response. Xfinity does not allow users to make channel changes in their XB8 routers, it defaults to Auto. Yes I did tether and all was well but not a strong signal. I am getting about 75mbps to the TV but then when a channel change occurs it drops considerably then I get buffering. I never used to get anything buffered to my tv. I'm thinking my wireless card on the TV may be the issue?
