Re: Roku Soundbar and OLD TV w/o ARC or Digital Audio

Jump to solution

If you're hoping to use streambar with other devices connected to the Projector, then you will have to have hdmi-arc or combination of regular hdmi and optical cable. If you're just using the projector as a monitor, anf can live with the only device to have sound is streambar, then you don't need arc or optical. Use the apps on the streambar for source, video goes to the projector as the audio is played through the streambar speakers.

If you have Roku Soundbar and OLD TV without ARC or Digital Audio then you can visit the Soundbar for Roku TV Guide. It will surely solve your issue.

Most well come for asking me again and again for the same issue.

Where is the solution that is kept in the original post?

When I click on it, it just back to the original page.

I have a TV with only 1 HDMI port.  I know I can buy a HDMI splitter so I can get multiple connections.   One for my ROKU device, the second for the ROKU Soundbar.   But this TV has no ARC.  There is mention about the old Red/White/Yellow cables used for sound.   How do I get this to work.

A diagram with exact parts needed would be of great help

I did not see any answers to this, does this mean it is not possible to use the Roku soundbar for sound ?

@Jake5

Without hdmi-arc or optical output on your tv, the only sound the Roku Soundbar will have is from channels built into the built-in streamer. To have sound from other devices connected to your tv, the tv has to have arc or at least optical, it needs a path to send audio from the tv to the Soundbar.

I recently ran into this myself. I accidentally discovered if I paired the device with a tv that had the required connection methods (optical in my case). It then would work with just the regular hdmi on the other tv.
