I have an old Samsung TV with 2 HDMI ports (neither one has ARC). I also do not have an optical audio port. Can I use the Soundbar with just a normal HDMI cable to run video to the TV and audio from the built in Roku through the soundbar? I don't care about getting audio from my TV or DVD player to play through the soundbar.
Thanks Lynncnott! I got my soundbar a few weeks ago and it works great! Wish I would've gotten it sooner.
Yes, that would work.
Thanks Tivoburkee!
Old Sharp Aquos tv. No ARC. 3 HDMI ports. No Optical on TV. Roku Soundbar work in regular HDMI port

Did you just use a regular hdmi port and it worked? No optical?
I don't have optical on that TV, so no I didn't use it. I'm sure my DVD player wouldn't go through the soundbar without it, but I can just use the TV speakers for that. I don't watch DVDs very often on that TV.
An Arc input would allow audio and video from the soundbar to the tv, while at the same time all audio from the tv to the soundbar. Without an Arc input, you can use combination of regular hdmi and optical for the two way traffic. But without Arc and optical you will not be able to hear sound through the soundbar from devices attached to the tv, only from sources coming from the built-in streamer of roku soundbar. Can you live with that like the JayDubs is?
Is there such a thing as an hdmi to arc hdmi converter/adapter?
How? Im hooking up the streambar to my projector. Projector has no ARC or optical out just 2 HDMI ports. When I get almost done with set up it says "something went wrong" then shows me how to use the optical cable.....which there is no optical hook up on my projector
