I've been using a Roku soundbar for several months now without issue. However, in the last week I've noticed that the volume level icon constantly appears in the top right hand corner of my screen when I'm not pressing the volume button on the remote.
This seems to happen whenever I open an app and start/change videos. It also happens whenever adverts play mid-stream - for instance, on YouTube or apps like All4 or My5: the volume icon will appear every time a new advert plays, and again when the main programme restarts. Most weirdly, the volume icon keeps appearing in the Netflix app when scrolling through play lists on the home screen (it seems to happen every time a video preview starts to play in the background).
I thought it might be a problem with the remote, but it persists even when I use my iPhone app as a remote. I've tried restarting, reconnecting to TV, but still continues. I've stopped short of resetting to factory settings though.
I am on software version 10.0.0 Build 4177
I'd really appreciate any advice on how to fix this - or at least I want to report this in case it's a software glitch - as it's starting to get a little too distracting and irritating. Many thanks.
I don't have a solution, but I wanted to say I'm having the same issue.
I thought it was triggering when ads started, but I've recently noticed it during long playback stretches as well.
Im hoping it's a glitch they can just patch out.
Yeah, I'm hoping its a glitch too - perhaps from a recent update? I think there have been a couple in last week or so? I'll keep an eye out in case the same problem happens when I stream something longer!
Also not a solution but wanted to chime in that it's happening for me too! Hopefully they come up with a solution soon!
Same issue here. I know there was an update recently; thinking it may be a glitch connected to that. Hoping there's a fix soon!
I emailed the Roku support team directly about this, and they swiftly sent me back an email saying they're investigating and will update me soon.... fingers crossed it is just a minor software update glitch and it can be ironed out
I'm having the same issue! Can't get help through support
Seems to be an OS glitch (I’m guessing). It seems to have gotten a little worse for me too - last night whilst watching a film on the Now TV app the volume icon kept randomly popping up. Did it about 5 times for no reason.
I’ve emailed support already to tell them about this thread and that others are having same problem. I don’t know if it will do any good, but I guess all we can do is keeping contacting them?
Unless anyone else has a better idea?
Hi everyone,
Thanks for the posts.
If you are unable to resolve the issue, can you please provide us the following information:
-Roku device model
-serial number
-device ID
-software OS/version
(these can all be found in Settings > System > About)
-does this issue occur on a specific channel? if so, what channel and what version/build is the channel (this can be found be selecting the channel on the Home screen and pressing the * button)
-tracker ID when this issue occurs (when you see this issue occur, press the Home button 5 times, followed by the Back button 5 times)
-screenshot or photo of the issue you are experiencing
Once we have this information we will be able to pass it along to the appropriate Roku team to investigate further.
Thanks,
Danny

It pops up at random for me. In the middle of tv shows on Netflix, Hulu, etc that have nothing that should trigger it. Remote will be sitting on a table with no action or motion.
