I also have a similar problem with an older Samsung tv, and use optical cables (in the US). I just set it up today. When I switch over to the cable input, the tv starts out with audio for a few 3 seconds but somehow the soundbar takes over and won’t let the tv audio play. Result- no sound!  Sound works perfectly when streaming from Roku.

Lots of hype that this works really well with all devices that are connected but I'm not finding that to be true.

Can you please clarify how you are connecting the Roku Soundbar to your TV? Are you just using an optical cable, or are you using a HDMI cable as well?
