Roku 32S331 turns on and off by itself

I have a Roku 32S331. Input bar randomly pops up on left side of tv and scrolls through then either changes the input mode or turns off.  Tv turns on by itself. No devices are connected to the tv. Only coax cable and power cable.
the input menu / scroll bar that pops up is not even one that I can bring up when I use the remote

It sounds like you have a Roku TV, possibly a TCL brand. I'm not familiar with the remote that came with that device, but @Tivoburkee may be. An image I found indicated it may have programmable buttons, but I am not certain. The resident remote expert may have some knowledge about that.

I do have a question, though. If you take the batteries out of the remote, does the issue stop occurring?

@DBDukes

There are many commands the roku tv will respond to that can't be found on the original roku remote, which happens to include a input menu. And I have a few different devices whose IR commands trigger the roku tv, my 5 hdmi switcher, input 1 is the same as option command on the roku tv. Input 5 is the same as mute on the roku tv. One of your other remote uses a IR protocol similar to one the roku tv responds to.

Yes. It is a tcl brand tv.  It is factory remote, no programmable buttons and the tv still operates in its own even with no batteries in remote and no other remote being used in the house.

Are you saying that with the batteries out, the TV turns off by itself?

Does the TV have a sleep timer?

Yes the tv turns on and or off and also changes inputs,  all completely random.  Almost like the tv has been logged into over an app,  I have done complete reset and made sure the app feature is turned off.  Tv has actually just turned back in by itself.  I love on multiple acres so no other places close enough to control by remote

Re: Roku 32S331 turns on and off by itself

@Aikman1144

Yeah, that's really weird. The actions you're describing generally come from 1) an IR signal, such as from a standard Roku TV remote, 2) a network command, such as from the Roku app, or 3) a WiFi Direct signal from a Voice Remote, which Roku TV supports.

If you've ruled out a Roku app on your network, that covers 2)

If you don't have a Voice Remote, that rules out 3)

That leaves 1)

Generally, that would be an IR remote, such as the one that came with the TV. It could also be a universal remote that supports Roku TV (different codes than standard Roku). Or, since it's infrared light, it could be some freak of nature reflecting a signal of the right frequency onto the sensor. This is weird, but this does happen.

The only other thing I can think of is a bad device, to include a bad sensor that's reacting to the wrong light signals.

Perhaps others will have some better suggestions.
