The Streambar (that's what the Roku sound bar is called) is also a Roku device. You didn't say, but it seems as if you may have a Roku TV. A Streambar can connect to any TV, giving Roku functionality to that TV.
When connecting a Streambar, use the HDMI/ARC input. If you want to know more bout why, read this..
What's going on with you is that you aren't looking at your Roku TV main menu. You are looking at the Roku Streambar main menu. It's hooked to one of your HDMI ports. Grab your TV remote and change the input from that HDMI port. I think the HOME button will do that on the Roku TV remote.
If all you want the Streambar for is the improved sound, don't use the Streambar's remote. Use the Roku TV remote instead. With the Streambar connected to HDMI/ARC port, you'll hear your TV stuff through the Streambar, but watch it through the TV.
If you want the Roku functionality of the Streambar, you'll need to grab the Roku TV remote when you're done with the Streambar streaming stuff.
Think of it like a DVD player connected to your TV. It would connect to an HDMI port. Your TV would be turned to the HDMI port for the DVD and you'd use the DVD remote to play discs. Then, you'd use the Roku TV remote to switch back to Roku or live TV or whatever. Same thing.
