Re: [OS 10.5] Roku TV signal strength on OTA antenna

Jump to solution

I have five ROKU TCL TVs as follows. Four of them have version 10.5.0 and after the update the signal bar dropped from 5 bars to one on all channels. The fifth on has version 10.0 and after last update, signal bars dropped from 5 to 2 on all channels. Unable to tune antenna without working signal meter! Please help!

Roku TV:  7118X

TCL model:  55S517

Serial Number:  YS008X985862

Software Version:  10.5.0 * 4208-30

Device ID: FT2848985862

Tracker ID: 62-483-769

10.0 OTA signal meter works fine (5 bars) on all stations, 10.5 OTA signal meter (1 bar) on all channels. Also on 10.0 I have no station Icons and on 10.5 I do have the station icons in the guide menu

Mary/Support Team,

I think i proved the point that, It's Doesn't matter what Model tv you have, it's the 10.5.0 firmware. Period. Have you tried to follow my posts about 4 different TVs i Use, the time sequence and results of the said updates/rollbacks?

As far as Asking every Week, for people to provide:

'Roku device model
-serial number
-device ID
-software OS/version (these can all be found in Settings > System > About)
-tracker ID when this issue occurs (when you see this issue occur, press the Home button 5 times, followed by the Back button 5 times)
-steps to reproduce the issue you are seeing' ~~~

Stop spouting  out a canned clipboard paste responses to people's Real Problem, And pass this along to someone who cares, and KNOWS How to fix the problem.

What D* good is it to press a bunch of Home Back buttons, it's not going to reproduce error data - It's on the Screen - All the Time - ONE BAR SIGNAL STRENGTH, OTA (over the air), Free to Those of us who invested Time&$$Money in Antennas and more.  get it??  i wonder

forgive my frankness, but this is getting old.

... plus some of us would think, with that data, you (rokU) would be able to hack into that particular tv and muck up it's firmware with a quick patch  - like you did with my Westinghouse, that's now in a Box. How you were able to trigger it, i assume from my email, and IP address, Anyway, ive got 3 on 10.5.0 and afraid to guess what 10.5.1 is going to do.

-Roku device model: 7813x-Roku TV

-device ID: 0G80CF494397
-software 10.5.0 build 4208-AM
-tracker ID 97-484-820

My Westinghouse TV is only showing one bar of signal strength for the antenna signal strength for OTA stations.

Well user after me was right.  Fixed my TV on Sunday with the rollback update.  And now this morning it re-updated itself back to 10.5 while I was sleeping.  Antenna bar strength broken again.

Come on Roku, fix this mess.

Same here reupdated and back to 🆘

I'd like to encourage anyone and everyone to send story tips to tech news outlets. Include details, the length of time this is ongoing and the fact that you see tons of posts with loads of pages about all sorts of problems a-z. They may not care about their customers, but I guarantee you these kind of companies freak out if they are shamed publicly in news outlets. I've seen a couple of smaller stories already. Please push for more coverage and force their hand. Lastly, campaign against roku in the future. Recommend other options to friends and family.

Not quite ready to jump on them with Both feet, i want them to fix things, not just suffer.  Say, they fix the firmware nicely, and you only hurt yourself by hurting them, To everyone's downfall. It already would seem, futurewise, they will be very hesitant to present new firmware, feature/fixes, due to what (we see) as current debacle.  Aside from that,  fancy this:  Finally got one, of the 3 ver 10.5.0 tvs, to show 5 Green signal strength bars! How, hmmm, dunno, but when it tuned to OTA channel, got Five Bars, then promptly, screen goes BLACK, Nothing! Click back to guide, select another channel, WoW, 5 Bars, then screen goes Black. Back to Home screen. After that, all One Bars on all channels, But the programs get Tuned in. Don't know what that tells You, or Them - still scratchin head. Maybe somebody on Mars knows.

It's been two months for some people. This isn't a mom and pop shop, it's a multi billion dollar company. My first problem with this TV took five months to fix. They clearly run on a skeleton crew and don't even offer phone support. Most of us already waited weeks before coming here to complain.
