New remote for Roku TVs

Jump to solution

I am thinking about buying the voice search remote for my Insignia Roku TV.  But I can not find anywhere if the remote is IR or RF.  My current remote has to have a direct line of site to work.

All Roku tv can be paired to Wifi voice remote even through its only remote was IR. The Voice remote is a type of RF called Wifi-Direct. Go into your settings> remote & devices> Pair a New Remote> follow the prompts.

Yes, once paired with your roku tv, it will control the roku commands as well as tv power, volume, and mute all by RF. The same rc-al7 I linked to if you were to pair it to non-roku tv, but roku streaming player like the ultra and non-roku tv tv, it would then control the tv controls by IR.

Thanks for the inquiry.

If you need a replacement remote for a Roku TV, you would need to contact your TV manufacturer. You can contact Insignia here: https://www.insigniaproducts.com/contact-us or at 1-877-467-4289.

You can also purchase a remote that is compatible with your Roku TV here: https://www.roku.com/products/accessories/roku-tv

Thanks,
Danny

Sorry, I didn’t word that well.   Is the remote fully RF, not just the voice search?

New remote for Roku TV

Jump to solution

Hi, I purchased a tcl Roku TV and was wondering what are some cheap alternatives for non ir remotes? The way my entertainment center is set up it just barely blocks the ir receiver making it difficult to get a good angle with pointing the remote.

You need the roku Voice remote, its $19.99 from roku:

https://www.roku.com/products/accessories/player

Or you can get from amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/Roku-RCAL7R-Voice-Remote-New/dp/B07WVFCKSS/ref=pd_ybh_a_31?_encoding=UTF8&psc...

Or buy it locally at walmart or best buy.
