Is it possible to connect my Sharp Roku TV directly to my router via a usb/ethernet adapter?

Jump to solution

I do not understand why I am having so much difficulty finding a straightforward answer to this question. My television is honestly 3 feet away from the router; however, I cannot watch anything due to poor streaming quality or constant buffering.  I purchased the usb/ethernet adapter and cable which is not recognized by the tv.  Is there a way to choose a "wired" connection option?

Thank you

@LMA Thanks for the question here. As @dgrace mentioned, you might try adjusting your wireless network settings to see if this is able to improve your wireless connection quality. You can check out some additional tips here: https://support.roku.com/article/213122277-tips-for-improving-the-wireless-connection-to-your-roku-s...

As far as whether or not your TV would support the use of an external hardware accessory like you described, you would need to contact the TV manufacturer for more information. You can locate Sharp's contact information here: https://community.roku.com/t5/Manufacturer-Support-Warranty-Resources/Contacting-Support-for-Your-Ro...

Thanks,

Interesting question. Ive used usb/ethernet convertors successfully with computers before.

Ive read they can work on various Roku's but dont know about Smart TV's.

A little research I found says basically that it is device dependent.

You need to contact Sharp directly.

There is a particular Driver you need in the TV's software.

Some smart TV's have a Ethernet port.

In the meantime go to Settings/Display type >> and set it to 720p

I'd be looking at router settings, position, channel, network congestion, etc. What router? What type of internet service? Why not wired ethernet from router to tv?
