In app volume does not work unless I change volume mode

In app volume is never on default. I have to press * and change around the “volume mode” for the volume to come on. 

if I go back, or home, it happens all over again. 

how can I make sure the volume doesn’t keep going out when I start shows or try to watch trailers?

Go into the "system" menu and "power" then "restart system".  That fixed it for me and was suggested after talking with TCL support over the phone.

I am also having this issue, though it did not resolve the sound issue in Netflix (only in Disney+).
