Re: Sound Distorted TCL TV

My TCL 423 50" has this issue.  10 months old.  Bought October 2019.   Sounded almost like a blown speaker- a squealing distorted sound.  It happened on internet TV (Roku) and also on the cable box from Comcast so it was not related to the input.   I have wireless headphones connected to one output and the same squealing sound issue coming out of the headphones.  So, the issue is clearly within the TV - not the TV speakers or the input source.

This forum helped resolve the issue.   Unplugging the TV for a minute (not just turning it off) was needed.   The problem is fixed.  It was a strange problem...

Volume “mode”. Set it to “off”.

When watching a program

  1. Press the Star button star button on Roku remote on your Roku remote.
  2. Select Sound settings.
  3. Choose Volume mode and set it to Off
