Hisense Roku TV Model: 50R7E - compatible with non-IR "Enhanced voice remote" ?

Jump to solution

I want to run three Roku TVs (Hisense Roku TV Model: 50R7E) side by side and I understand this is a problem with normal IR remotes, which I believe this model ships with.

From what I've read, the "Enhanced voice remote" (the one with the headphone jack) can work in a non-IR (WiFi? RF?) mode where it can be paired to a specific TV.

The remote I'm referring to is the second one on this page that shows up as "RC463" when I add it to the shopping cart:

Can anyone confirm that what I want to do will work?

You can pair a wifi remote to the the Hisense tv, but don't expect the headphone jack to work, NO Roku tv comes with headphone jack remote, and they don't advertise that function for roku tv's. I own three Roku tv's, a Insignia, Hisense and TCL, only the TCL model works with headphone jack.

I would go with first remote listed on that page, or the first listed here:

With three tv's you would need to replace each remote on all three tv's and abandon the IR remotes.

@wkrick  Feel free to review our officially supported, replacement remotes for Roku TVs here: https://www.roku.com/products/accessories/roku-tv

If you're looking for additional remote replacement options, you can also follow up with your TV manufacturer directly to see if they have any additional offerings for your model.

Thanks,

Tanner

So, does every remote labeled as "Voice Remote" use a direct WiFi (RF?) connection (pairing) instead of IR?

If so, I see at least three possible remotes for my application in the Roku Store...

  • Roku Voice Remote with TV Power and Volume Buttons - RC392
  • Roku Enhanced Voice Remote with TV power and volume buttons - RC463
  • Roku TV Voice Remote - RC460

Yes, voice remotes are wifi. The rc463 with headphone jack is much larger then your original hisense, it might turn you off. I prefer the smaller remotes myself.

You can purchase the smaller wifi remote from walmart and best buy in store. Or on amazon:
