At least they gave you a refund for your trouble in the end. They haven't done squat for me except tell me to do a factory reset which doesn't fix the problem! I'll never buy another TCL product again.

Regarding that the processor is not fast enough makes no sense since I am seeing people have this issue on the 2018 model which I had, and I had no problems on that. That is why it makes me believe something is screwed up by a firmware or something.

You’re probably right. I was making a guess on the processor. I’ve seen people on reddit complain about this on the Samsung forums too, so I don’t think it’s just a Roku problem. Who knows though, it could be Roku’s fault. Let’s hope it’s just firmware. Roku, if you’re listening, you should probably fix the firmware before people start resorting to legal action. Clearly nothing has been done by the customer service team

I hope so too. I also hope they fix the media player so I can watch 4K movie rips again. Also Dolby Vision doesn't have the flickering issue which also supports that it is a firmware issue, I feel.

In my case I believe it is a firmware issue. Mine started after the last update.

I have noticed this flicker fluctuation in dark scenes hdr 4k movies and content from DC app since January when I purchased the tv. I hope Roku and tcl will get to the bottom of this. Hopefully a firmware fix of some kind?  I googled hdr flicker and found that hicense h9f also does this but hicense stated they would address it with a firmware fix in April. Not sure if they really fixed it due to delays in everything now. 

But we all want tcl and Roku to fix this this year. It has been a problem for over 3 months now.

Yeah, it is super unfortunate that they haven't fixed it yet. There is absolutely no light flicker when you are not watching HDR content. I don't even think it occurs when it is Dolby Vision content.

I would have loved to learn that the issue wasn't TCL as this would give me more hope a possible fix was coming from Roku.

Unfortunately, the same exact issue on the 65R615 described here on native apps from Roku 4K/4K HDR content (flicker in bright areas contrasting with dark) shows up on my connected Nvidia Shield now that I notice.

I originally purchased in December 2019,put the TV through the DSG tests and a playlist of 4K HDR content from YouTube where I noticed the flicker. Same exact playlist on my older Vizio M65e0 had no flickering. Fast forward, I exchanged TV twice a with BestBuy in January and the issue followed. Moved on to endless hours on support with TCL, they eventually sent a tech, I watched him replace entire motherboard, button it back-up and issue followed. Technician also noticed the same flickering issue. (This is now my 3rd R615). 

Back with support, after all of this, they offered a refund which I didn't bother with pursuing as the headache of packing the box, pandemic was also beginning.' I just kept it. 

Noteworthy, same shows in non 4K/4K HDR the flicker is very faintly barely noticeable. So whatever process (local dimming/gpu acceleration..?) is used in more capacity during 4K content playback is likely the source of the issue.

I love the TV, but I'll be a liar if I told you I didn't check for updates once a week hoping a TCL upgrade would fix this.

Yeah, that's a firmware issue.
