I recently purchased a 55" 4k QLED with HDR and Dolby Vision + ATMOS support. I have had several Roku tv's and have had no issues with HDR. The problem I am having is that i'm connecting my Xbox Series X to the TV the same way I had done with my previous TV. I then go to the inputs and change the HDMI input to 2.0 as this is what i've had to do with my previous tv to get HDR to work. However, Upon changing the input to 2.0 my xbox will not allow a resolution above 640x480. I then can set it to 1.4 the tv will support 4k but no HDR or Dolby vision. I have gone into the hdmi hidden menu and can validate the hdmi input is at 1.4 when I tell it to set the hdmi input to hdmi 2.0 it then says input ** is unknown as if there is an issue with hdmi 2.0 on this tv. Moving on, hdr, dolby vision work perfect when i launch netflix, however, launching netflix on the xbox series x provides no dolby vision, the settings on the xbox state that the tv supports dolby vision for streaming and video. Not sure what is going on with the HDMI ports on this tv but 2.0 appears to be broken.
So I got the issue sorted by holding the reset button on the back of the tv. This put the tv in recovery mode. Once I did that process all was good.
Thanks for the post.
When selecting the HDMI that your XBOX is connected to, have you tried simply selecting the input and not changing anything to see if the issue still occurs?
Please keep us posted what you find out and we will be able to assist you further.
Thanks,
Danny
I've found that I seem to be having the exact same issue.
I recently purchased the Onn 50" QLED Roku TV (100071700) on July 12, 2022. https://onntvsupport.com/50-qled-4k-uhd-hdr10-frameless-roku-tv
My PC has an RTX 2060 KO, which supports HDMI 2.0 and 4k@60Hz. I can run games on it at 4k 60hz just fine. https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/evga-rtx-2060-ko.b7575
I'm using a certified HDMI 2.1 48Gbps 4k@120Hz cable, and tested several HDMI cables since I started encountering this issue.
Several weeks ago, while having the TV connected to my PC as a 4K display running at 60hz, it started consistently and repeatedly reverting to a generic 'Digital Display' at 1024x768 resolution, and it could only manually be raised up to 1920x1080 in the display settings. This might possibly related to the August 4th Software Update (currently running 11.0.2, build 4138)? It usually happened whenever I opened the browser, and today I discovered that it happens specifically when I try to access DRM/HDCP? content, such as Amazon Prime on the PC. I also meanwhile have been unable to access HDR in Windows. Then I discovered this thread while trying to troubleshoot. After messing with the TV settings, I've found that my PC can only see or access the TV when the HDMI input is set to Compatibility Mode (1.4) rather than Standard (2.0). It will not see the TV at all initially when it is set to Standard. Finally, whenever I try to actively switch the input from working Compatibility to Standard mode, it consistently reverts to the generic 1080p 'Digital Display' mentioned above. This seems to distinctly be an HDMI 2.0 or HDCP issue. I sure hope that this can be fixed with a firmware update, because using the TV to watch 4k content through my PC is a key point of my setup.
So I got the issue sorted by holding the reset button on the back of the tv. This put the tv in recovery mode. Once I did that process all was good.
that post is a lie just tried it and it didnt work. can yall please update your hdmi ports?
I am unfortunately still having the issue of my PC not being able to see the TV when set to 2.0 even after a recovery mode reformat.
Thanks for the posts.
If you are still unable to resolve the issue, can you please provide us the following information:
-Roku device model, serial number, device ID, and software OS/version (these can all be found in Settings > System > About)
-steps to reproduce the issue you are seeing
Once we have this information, we will be able to pass along the information to the appropriate Roku team to investigate further.
Thanks,
Danny
