Hello Roku Community,
I have many .mp4 movie files using the E-AC-3 (aka EAC3) audio codec on USB thumb drives. If I plug the USB thumb drives into the following Roku TVs, will the movie audio be heard: 40R3B5, 43R4A5R, and 50R4A5R?
BTW: I'm reading that Dolby Digital Plus provides EAC3 audio codec. Is this true? And would it also be true that if a Smart TV listed Dolby Digital Plus support, it could play .mp4 movie files using the E-AC-3 (aka EAC3) audio codec on USB thumb drives? Also, as the Roku TVs are all relatively new, it seems odd that in the Specs section of this Roku web page (https://www.roku.com/products/roku-tv/roku-made-tvs/select-series-4k), under Audio is simply listed Dolby Audio. It seems odd that a modern Smart TV would simply list Dolby Audio support, and not something more specific such as Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, and possibly Dolby Atmos.
Thanks,
Steve
