I have a Hisenses TV Model 55R6+ that is more than 5 years old. It came with a standard remote. I would like to use a voice remote. How do I find out how to do that? I am 75 years old and not very computer literate.

My problem is I have been told that I need to have my firmware upgraded. I don't know if that is correct or how to do it. Can you tell me what my next step is?

We'd like to know more about how we can help. Just to confirm that I fully understand your inquiry, are you receiving an error message/error code that you need to update? If your current Roku Simple Remote is still working, you may try to manually perform a system update.

Instructions to manually update your software:

1. Press Home on your Roku remote
2. Scroll and select Settings
3. Select System
4. Select System update

I'm not sure you understand my question.

My TV is more that 5 years old and came with a manual remote that works just fine. I want to know if I can use your voice remote with the TV instead of a manual remote. I called and was told that I must update my firmware. Is that correct and if so, how do I do that? Is there a cost to update?

It will work just fine with your Roku tv even though it came with IR remote. You will have to pair it to the Roku tv initially. Use your simple IR remote to go into the settings:

settings> remote & devices> add device> remote> follow prompts.
