Black screen, but sound works, can hear remote clicks.

Tried unsuccessfully unplugging tv for several minutes. When I hit the power button on the remote to turn it on, the screen flashes for a split second and the it’s black. But I can hear the remote clicks moving around my Home Screen. Sounds like Roku has issues.

I also tried the factory reset button. Held it in long enough because when it flashes when I turn it on I can see it’s some sort of a set up screen for a split second. This tv isn’t that old either.

Re: Black screen, but sound works, can hear remote clicks.

I was able to painstakingly log back into my acct and WiFi by taking snippets of slomo video to see where my cursor was each time I hit the power button twice it flashed. It did an update and still no go. I’m throwing this thing out with an understanding when you buy cheap **bleep** this is what you get. And for all others out there saying “mines great” just wait. And where is the customer service? What’s the point of posting messages for yourself?

@Matthew57, this is a forum where for the most part users try to help other users.  It isn't really customer service.  Support starts at https://support.roku.com/contactus, but if your TV was made by TCL, Hisense, onn, etc., they won't be able to help you.

As for your problem, your backlight has most likely failed.  It doesn't have anything to do with Roku and you're right, these inexpensive (cheap) TVs are cheap for a reason.  They don't exactly use the highest quality components.

If your TV is still under warranty, try contacting the manufacturer.  If it isn't, don't waste your time.
