Best TV for brightness please help me

Hey friends! Looking to buy a 50 and 65 inch tv eventually and wanted to know which of the brands that Roku is on is the best for brightness?

Or does it not matter? I like my tvs super bright for my vision.

Re: Best TV for brightness please help me

You could google that, comparing NITS and peak brightness, but you should also compare the other features and quality of the brands.  I would also suggest considering brands that don't necessarily have a Roku OS and consider a TV that you could add a Roku device as there seems to be a lot less complains with those.  That way you can compare all brands, not just those TVs that have Roku OSs.  Some of the budget level TVs don't have reliable or quality components, so I would be skeptical at some of the claims of those brands and their brightness.

As the other reply noted, RTNGS.com is a great place to compare TV sets.

I went through something similar a few weeks ago. HDR on my current TV ranged from somewhat ok to like filmed in a dark closet, depending on the app. Prime was worst. Hulu was ok.

SDR always looked good and fiddling around with the TV menu really improved it. HDR is overrated in my opinion.

Almost all TVs do SDR good enough, some better than others. Good HDR is limited to only a few TVs according to my research.

I have a several year old TCL Roku series 5 TV. SDR looks great, HDR not so much. I recently put a Roku Ultra 2024 on the TCL Roku TV to bypass the OEM Roku tech. Besides being much faster, sound is processed better, the screen seems a little brighter, and I can permanently turn off HDR which can not be done on the TCL Roku TV natively.

QLED and variants provide the best HDR. The trade off is viewing from the side is supposed to be less good. OLED is not as bright and but viewing from the side is supposed to be much better than QLED.

For really good HDR according to reviews, look at the TCL QM8, The Hisense U8, the Sony Bravia 9 (expensive), Samsung QN90D (certain sizes only). RTNGS.com will provide help with other models. All will require a Roku player. I highly recommend the Ultra 2024. It really is much snappier. The Express 4k+ is also very good. I used one before upgrading to the Ultra 2024 based on reviews. I put the Express 4k+ on a different tv.

The processor they put in the TV is not always as good as the one in the Roku player. Netflix and Prime and others were glacial on the TCL Roku TV. Consider buying the right TV and then put a Roku player on it.
