I bought the Roku Soundbar. Trying to use optical audio out to my audio dolby digital receiver.
The Manual suggest to set setting >Audio>Output Audio
But the Audio output option doesn't exist as options. I am stuck. The whole point was to use the hdmi to projector and audio to my nice home theatre sorround sound receiver.
Please help ASAP...
Thanks Sabbir
Sorry but the optical is an input only on all forms of roku soundbars and streambars. Not an output.
Well, even the latest manual says you can change the audio out to optical and change back and forth
Sorry, I cannot agree with you. Thanks anyway.
Have you found that in the settings of your streambar pro? No, because it can't be done. I own the original Roku Smart Soundbar, and smaller Streambar. I don't use optical on Soundbar, but I do on the Streambar, I use it as a computer speaker. With the help of an analog to digital converter. It switches 3.5 mm analog signal to digital optical that connects to my streambar. Sound comes into the streambar, it is a speaker. Speakers have audio inputs not outputs. Have fun looking for something that isn't there.
Thanks...
As I said, the Roku manufacturer claims that this does exist, me trying is obvious.
Its all over their websites.
Otherwise they have to refund me.. Right?
Nothing on that page you linked to says anything about optical, let alone switching from being an input to an output. The last roku to have an optical output was the first generation Ultra 4640. Next model of ultra the 4660 it was gone.
Do you know what the hdmi-arc does? It allows audio & video from the Streambar to the tv, at the same time allow audio from the tv to go back the other way to streambar all with one cable. That's the only thing that switches from output to input. That doesn't work with optical input, when you use the optical you have to use it in combination with hdmi cable.
Totally know lot about HDMI ARC.
Bro, you are just argueing without researching.

Click on Switch audio
To turn off your wireless audio device and use your Roku TV's built-in speakers or other audio outputs, follow the instructions below:
Select ARC or Optical to enable only the audio outputs. Both your wireless audio device and your TV's built-in speakers will be disabled.
Those instructions are for Roku tv, right? What does that have to do with you wanting the audio from the streambar's optical input to send audio to your AV receiver optical input? Is the roku tv in that chain between the streambar and the av receiver? no. An input can't communicate with another input. Its input to output or output to input.
Yes, Roku tv's have optical outputs that can communicate with your av receiver's optical input. But Roku soundbars and streambars don't have optical outputs, only inputs.
Connecting to an AVR or soundbar using optical for audio
Use this option if your Roku player has an optical connector, and your AVR or soundbar does not support HDMI. In this configuration, you will switch video sources on your TV and audio sources on your AVR or soundbar.
Roku player or streaming stick connecting via optical or S/PDIF to audio video receiver or AVR
Connect the end of the HDMI cable that is not attached to your Roku player to an available HDMI input on your TV.
Connect an optical cable to the optical output on your Roku player. Connect the opposite end to an optical (or S/PDIF) input on your AVR or soundbar.
This is what says their websites....
And thats exactly what i am trying to do.
Thanks a lot for your suggestions
