My Roku Streambar is connected to an older TV using the HDMI cable and the optical cable. The TV is connected to a DirectTV cable box. My wife watches DirectTV more than Roku.
I'm just trying to find the optimum settings for ease of operation and sound quality when switching from DirecTV to ROKU.
My questions are 1. In the TV setup menu, do I leave the TV speakers on for use when watching the TV? Or can I turn off the TV speakers and listen to DirecTV through the Streambar? 2. Can I use the Streambar remote to control the DirecTV sound or should I use the DirecTV remote?
Leave the tv speakers on, streambar doesn't replace the tv sound it just adds to it. Directv receivers have no volume of its own, and the roku streambar only controls roku volume directly. But through the hdmi-cec it control the tv volume too, and the tv volume can control the roku streambar in turn via hdmi-cec, so program the directv remote for your tv volume and it will control the roku streambar as well.
