Using consistent currency in multiple channel stores?

Is it possible to set up a channel so that all in-app purchases in any of the Roku channel stores will use USD?

In our game we have a consistent in-game currency, and with the variation between the $CDN and $USD(as an example), it would give an unfair bonus to users buying from the $CDN channel store.

Re: Using consistent currency in multiple channel stores?

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on how we could implement this in a sane way?

Re: Using consistent currency in multiple channel stores?

Short answer: you individually can't - get over it - but ask RokuCo to update their tables instead.

Long answer: pricing at Roku is done as in Apple AppStore - in tiers, where each tier has fixed price in each currency, which are supposed to be "equal" and "fair" in some sense (more on that some other time but "currency exchange rate" ain't it - look up "PPP" instead). Currently Tier 1 per Roku is:
  • 0.99 USD

  • 0.99 CAD

  • 0.69 GBP

  • 0.79 EUR

Comparing that to Apple's Tier 1:
  • 0.99 USD

  • 1.19 CAD

  • 0.79 GBP

  • 0.99 EUR
so currently Roku is way off on Canadian and Euros and need to bump them up by 20% and 25% accordingly. Same arguments can be seen from both exchange rate and PPP tables but best would be to stick close to Apple's tables (why? because in 2014 Apple handled $15,000,000,000 in app sales specifically - that's $15 "B" or 15,000 Million USD if you will - so betcha they put lot of research what the app market bears in currency pricing).

RokuJoel - how often does RokuCo update the tier pricing tables?
Is it on fixed intervals - or can we trigger a review?

Re: Using consistent currency in multiple channel stores?

Hello, Roku* - chime-in on this thread, please?

Bonus question - i just noticed this in my txn details (potential PII columns removed):

Event Date Transaction Type Transaction ID Amount Currency
---------- ---------------- ------------------------------------ ------ --------
09/13/15 Sale F8555C2D-8D6C-43D8-AFFD-A51200D90029 0.55 GBP
Any idea why it shows customer paid 0.55 GBP instead of 0.69 GBP (per Roku schedule)?
