Roku hostname not resolving

Hello everyone, I am writing a program to control Roku for Windows. To put it simply, I have it working if I specify the IP address of the TV but I want to be able to specify the hostname. When I look at my router, I can see the tv's IP and hostname but in Windows, if I try to ping the tv by its name, it doesn't return anything. I can ping other computers on my network by their names. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've been looking everywhere for a solution. Also when I try the official Roku app on my phone, the phone finds the tv. Making me think the problem is Windows.
