Re: Customer Support Phone Number

You keep talking to me like I work for Roku. I do not, and I don't see every post in the forum. I simply try to assist based on the knowledge that I have. I don't play media from the USB port, but I do use RMP to stream from a DLNA server. I encounter no audio issues. My DLNA server will convert unsupported codecs, but passes DD and DTS though without an issue.

Funny how a "Community streaming expert" should say "I don't play media from the USB port". I don't know if you work for them or not - I'm just trying to get somebody - ANYBODY - to listen and get it fixed.

Nowhere does it say RMP only works with a DNLA server. Anyway, the point is that codecs which used to work with RMP were broken in V10.

Why should streaming from a USB drive be any different than from a DLNA server? The only real difference is that to stream from the USB port the media has to be in a supported container and use supported codecs. Using a DLNA server unsupported media can easily be transcoded into something Roku supports. And you are correct that RMP works just fine with USB drives or DLNA servers.

Please, I really would like to assist. Exactly what codecs are not working now that used to play? I'm the author of the Roku profiles used in the Serviio DLNA server (but not an employee there either). If I've missed something Roku changed that might require a modification of those profiles, I'd really like to know. I haven't found any issues, but it's certainly likely my library doesn't have all possible combinations of codecs and containers.

Roku does not have a toll free number in the US. If you find one, it's not Roku, but some scam site trying to get you to spend money for something that Roku does not charge for.

@atc98092

Some of the people in this post should just pack up their ROKU player and send it back.

They are not smart enough to be able to boil water, let alone read over and over that there is NO USA ROKU Number!!!!

It's a very sad, but very true story....

RaccoonDad,

I think all of this hooey boils down to just 2 reasons why these people not paying even the most basic of attention.

1.  Magical Thinking.  Our modern school systems encourage helplessness with  students constantly being "helped" by automatically given the  answers from overworked teachers with too crowded classes and paperwork or overly concerned hovering  "helicopter"  parents so they will pass on to the higher grade with all equally inflated "As".  No one left behind, remember? They cannot think for themselves, reason out anything on their own and perform basic problem solving, or simply scroll back!  I even witness this for myself right here on these forums.  Which leads me to the next one:

2.  Too cheap to hire someone or a professional  tech business to solve their Roku  technical problems.  Really,. What in the world you expect us here to help you?   Pop out of your device's screen and do it for you?  Please, come back to reality.  All of you that keep posting the same request over and over are really need of some professional help way beyond what this topic or forum can do.

Get real!  Or make an appointment with your favourite local mental health professional along with a tech person to deal with your Roku.  What all of you keep asking has already been answered or is not rooted in reality.

Of course, if they actually HAD a US support number that problem would be solved. There’s a disturbing recurring theme here that somehow users are not entitled to decent tech support or that people with firmware problems should be able to fix it themselves. All the denigrating and name calling in the world will not negate the fact that people are having technical issues and cannot get them resolved.
The Roku is marketed and sold to the average person, Suggesting that those who cannot solve their own problems are stupid means either indicates that the tech “geniuses” making these claims are either arrogant jackasses or incredibly stupid themselves.

And how many of you “user bashers” have actually contributed any constructive help? Have you solved the RMP USB sound problem caused by the last firmware update (not the stupid users?)

It is not unreasonable to expect support for a product.

Roku does have a US support number. But it's not toll-free, so it's important for users to be aware that any such number is going to be a scam site. If you don't find that helpful, have a nice day.

I can't help with the USB sound issue because I simply don't see it. I'm not saying some users don't have a problem. But if I can't replicate the issue there's little I can do to assist. But most users don't have a setup that is similar to mine, so I try not to make too many comparisons.
