I REALLY HATE...*HATE* SPAM‼️
So......"NO, I do NOT NEED, nor do I WANT an iphone 12". I have lived 25 yearsnof my life WITHOUT Apple Macintosh products, and am perfectly happy. Oh, and ...btw.... isn't spam against ROKU Community Guidelines!?
Thanks for the inquiry.
For future reference, feel free to report inappropriate content through PM (private messages) by simply clicking the Report link in the private message.
Thanks,
Danny

Yes, it is. This is something that the spammers have only recently attempted. Just report them as Danny mentioned and delete the message.
I just received similar spam as well. While I get the idea of reporting inappropriate messages, just the fact that a message gets opened is helping the spammer. So, I've just disabled private messages completely. I'm sorry, but it isn't my job to thwart spammers; anti-spam should be built into any messaging system at this point.

No, viewing a private message within this forum does nothing for the spammer. You'd have to click the link for them to have any benefit. This isn't something like a regular mail program that something malicious can run simply by viewing the message. And in reality most email clients have protections against that happening any longer.
When one forum user sends a PM to another user, that's nothing an anti-spam program could catch. These are people paid to create user accounts on forums and then sending spamming messages to other users. These messages aren't coming from outside the forum, so there's no software that could catch it. About the only thing that could be done is blocking someone from adding a URL to a message. I'd hate for it to come to that, because it's extremely useful for legitimate purposes.

Can the forum software block any link or post containing "sites.google.com"? That would go far to stop alot of the recent SPAM posts, or at least make them useless and un-clickable.
About the only consequence the spammer can get is having their account blocked on the forum. There isn't much of anything else that can be done. As a moderator of another forum, that's all I can do, aside from reporting that user to the spam tracking sites. They get reported there, and when they attempt to create a new account they get tagged as a spammer and often can't get back in.
Thanks for the post.
