ALL should be concerned. I'm not a political activist or Roku hater or a NewsMax employee or any of that. I'm concerned with the business practices I see by Roku and I'M A PAID CUSTOMER ....
Resurfacing my original (was buried) post because with each passing day an issue reported 4 WEEKS AGO still unresolved?! An ETA to a customer (ME!) is not too much to ask. The 'Roku Guru' replies back to other customers who have reported and been ignored regarding forms of censorship is very concerning.
I think you might be misunderstanding what "freedom of speech" means. Nobody is prosecuting you or NewsMax in this scenario. This is in the same category as the local 7-11 employee putting the wrong sticker on the cherry Slurpee spigot.
I never claimed I'm being "prosecuted". I see a pattern of complaints by the community. I encourage you to dig a little deeper and look at posts. All the 'talk-talk-talk' aside 5 weeks since I reported the issue when will it be fixed? Respectfully your the 3rd "guru" that is more interested in questioning and challenging than helping and supporting the Roku customer get a VERY simple problem fixed. Please help me understand the role of a "guru", imho you guru's add no value
BTW - On a related note, I noticed this morning my conversation with @011 over the last couple of days had been updated and his/her id of @011 had been removed and changed to 'anonymous'. My perception of Roku continues to rot like an old fish wrapper.
I JUST WANT TO BE TREATED LIKE A CUSTOMER AND MY PROBLEM RESOLVED. History will be the judge of Roku's poor business practices. I and others are just calling a spade a spade.
And what, exactly, does any of this have to do with "freedom of speech", the guise you claim is the justification for your rantings?
Nobody is stopping you from said rantings (which invalidates the title of the OP), hence no freedom of speech is being impinged.
LOL - "...ranting..."? I'm not angry. Let me help you, help me.
You either haven't read my original problem reported 5 WEEKS AGO or if you have you don't get it and I can't help you "guru"? Respectfully, you didn't answer my question. Can you explain what you and the others are a "guru" of? If you can help me and other customers resolve reported problems, glad to engage and appreciate your support otherwise again respectfully you add no value so no need to reply back.
His title of Roku Guru is based on the number of posts he's made here, solutions provided, and the kudos received by his posts. My title of Roku Streaming Expert has been given to me by Roku based on my overall knowledge of Roku devices and streaming in general. But neither of us are Roku employees, and have no inside connection to Roku to make things happen.
You keep using the word censoring, but what you are showing (and you are accurate in your position) is that a specific channel that offers News is not listed under News in the channel store. But the channel in question is available and easily found. So it's not being censored. Why is it not labeled as a News site? I have no idea. It's either a mistake, or it doesn't meet some sort of criteria Roku uses to determine what is listed where. Either way, again it's not being censored in any way. Which is why people have questioned you about your statements.
As to the other user you were conversing with that had their user name changed to anonymous, that is what happens when someone has violated the terms of service and they were banned from the forum. And while we will never know the reason it happened, it's entirely possible that it had nothing to do with the conversation you were having with them.
@atc98092 Thank you! Thank you for sharing your insight and knowledge. I believe until I'm proven otherwise AND Roku fixes a simple problem of putting a news channel in their news group that Roku is 'suppressing' this channel and suppression of this type is a form of censorship imho.
Sure, I understand NewsMax is available but requiring customers to search for it and more importantly NO ACTION by Roku to resolve a simple problem supports my claim.
Do the right thing Roku, just fix the (REALLY SIMPLE) problem.
Wrong again. Usernames disappear when people close their accounts after getting sick of moronic users like "Skiff". When it's just not worth wading through this **bleep**.
