There is a new pop up on the bottom of the screen showing: led tv, series 5000, energy efficient, ultra slim, all share - tabs
They do a slide show through each one blocking part of the tv and captions.
I have turned off the ads in the settings and completed a factory reset.
It's still on the screen. How can I remove this? I have the streaming stick 3800x. Last update was in december and this pop up bar started last week.
That is not coming from the Roku. It is coming from your TV. Go through your TV settings and make certain that it is not in "Demo" or "Demonstration" mode, which is for when a TV is used as a display model in a store.
Spent 2 hrs on the chat with samsung. They are sayings it's a roku problem because it only shows when I'm on roku. On regular tv it does not show up.
I do not have the original samsung tv remote so I cannot access the "demo mode". I have had this tv for many years and this has never happened before. Not sure how it could change to demo mode without the original remote.

If you have any sort of remote for the TV, you should be able to get into the Settings menu and turn off demo mode. You don't have to have an actual Samsung remote, just anything that will control the set. But that info is absolutely coming from the TV, not the Roku.
You should be able to find a universal remote online or at a local store that can control your TV.
I have been looking for the answer to this same question. I have a Vizio and went to my settings and messed around with them (no demo mode) but I was able to find a button to tell the tv to recognize the Roku, once I did that, the bar went away. It was so annoying! Thanks for the help! I recommend trying to find the fix in your tv settings. Something must have happened with a recent update because mine has never done this and it didn't happen on my Roku tvs, just the ones that have a Roku connected to them.
