Re: Please Stop Trashing Roku

I have learned the hard way not to expect much from the physical devices themselves.  Remember that they are cheaply imported and made intended on being a "Loss Leader." Basically mainly  Intended on attracting and keeping eyeballs on the actual content/ads.  Not pleasing customer service anymore.  Putting it in a more harsh way, the content (and it's financially corporate supporting paying ads) are kings and queens, not the user.

Once I learned and even accepted this 21st century reality, I allow for all this drama and possible unreliable playback.

Not the ideal I and the rest here grew up with, but it is reality, not just for this particular corporation's ,Streaming devices, but almost all products offered and made today.

We all can and must adapt-but only to a critical point.

Re: Please Stop Trashing Roku

Maybe if they had even basic customer service that would not happen!! Have been wanting to upgrade remote and possibly add sound bar to my TCL TV for several years but cant seem to find or get answers as to what remote would work on my TV which would have a headphone jack. So I do without and they don't make sale.

Re: Please Stop Trashing Roku

Actually it's your attention (via your eyeballs) is pretty much the be all and end all of Roku's money generating means.

Customer Service is a bygone era way of attracting interest in the product(s).  Now passe and just as exciting as antenna powered  broadcast television with only 3 networks.  It still exists although rapidly being changed or even cut out of most corporate budgets.

I worked in this industry for many years.  Now I do not.  Roku-and most other larger corporations as well-offer forums, email, perhaps Chat after much jumping through hoops.  The best excuse of a fast disappearance  of their own Phone Call Center In Real Time happened in the unexpected form of a equally emergence of an unforseen vicious virus.

The dust has not completely settled quite yet.  The rapid march to 99.99% online interaction only is rapidly gaining.  And most people have already adopted this new way of doing business exclusively.  Not the true ideal to benefit real live human beings, but people are still gravitating far more rapidly than pre Pandemic.

Time moves forward, not backwards.

Re: Please Stop Trashing Roku

yeah this has to be an employee or too young to understand we pay for a product trusting it functions (everyone does in every aspect of life)

Re: Please Stop Trashing Roku

na that's not at all how this works. if you dont expect much dont know why youd ever pay for something like that.

they expect ur money, you expect their product as advertised. no bs "preview/hardware only" na that's not what is listed on the box.

you can be a door mat and shell money out, id prefer not to

Re: Please Stop Trashing Roku

Exercising or making a choice does not make anyone a door mat.  It is simply the basic right and living practice all humans (even the lower life forms) share living on this planet.  When something comes along that offers BETTER options or choices for the few or masses, Streaming will be pushed aside, even replaced.  Perhaps a lot sooner than later as technology accelerates.  That is how this post industrial global society works.

Everyone has a right to their own opinions.  Even the tasteless, pointless ones like the above post.

I’ve had it for three days, and I already want to take a hammer to it!

CBS still has problems loading, regardless of how many times the channel is activated.

Trashing Roku does not solve any problems. Keeping a cool head and outlining

your problems herein helps the community help you. Its easy to get frustrated and cheap and

easy to Blame Roku but really isnt accomplishing anything aside from venting frustrations.

If anything were perfect we could all die because there is nothing to strive for.

These rants are vexing to the spirit. Everyone likes the idea of being cool.

Post later if you must and be coooooooooooool in life. It really isnt that important. Please.
