Old Sony TV making popping cracking noises?

Last few days my old school Sony coaxle TV making popping and cracking noises on and off during the day. Friend said it might be a static electricity overload in the room. Any quick solutions out there please help?

This is a Roku support community.  Is there a Roku involved there somewhere?
