Not Again! Another Apps Abandoning Roku Too?

Here we go again.  Now Amazon Prime with it's freebie sidekick. IMDb TV, is about to exit Roku right after Google's YouTube paid & freebie versions.  When wil it end?  With Roku having a empty. Menu line up?

I hope not!

Re: Not Again! Another Apps Abandoning Roku Too?

That article sounds much like any article you could have read about a dispute between a cable/sat operator and a content provider over the last few decades.  Especially: " Obviously, IMDb TV is pretty low stakes compared to the juggernaut that is Prime Video — which is exactly why Amazon pairs them together when negotiating" Yep, that's a classic content-provider ploy which ends up making people complain about having so many channels that they don’t use if the cable company gives in.  (But if they don't give in, people complain about not having the important channel of the package.)

So, when will it end?  I'm guessing – never.

As for an empty line up, Roku has thousands of channels so I think empty is a very long way away, but if you're into drama, there will be many disputes you can follow.

If Roku ends up losing Prime Video, i'm gonna 'lose' my 3 Roku devices and go with another streaming stick.

Well I only report 'em, provide the necessary links, and then adapt to the new reality.  I choose to spend some of my own "Personal Golden Hour" to decide what is the next direction is best for me in the world of Streaming.

As for the rest of you above, it time to decide what is best for you and yours.  That is not my way or my business.

I can't believe that Amazon, Youtube and private apps are going away. If all of this happens, I'm sorry to say that I won't be using Roku again. I've been a faithful user for a long, long time but there aren't any such issues with Fire TV. Such a shame.

No rumour.

Competitors negotiating for financial advantage.  Needs government anti monopoly action to sort it out.

Looks like if you have YouTube you will be able to keep it, be careful to not delete it (has been similar issues with some cable company apps). But new customers won't get it. Screen mirroring from a device also possible.

Amazon? Probably gone.  They have desupported older Roku devices anyway.

Private channels going too, soon.

Next stop..a second box, probably an Android TV powered box for flexibility.

Is Roku Losing Youtube Apps?

Youtube is my most used app on my Roku Devices.  Is Youtube going to go away on Roku? I will be completely bummed out.  I spent a bunch of money on Roku devices because I like the way Youtube works on them.
