My words: Do you like 70's films?  This one is 70's-licious.  Big afros, switchblades, and wacka-wacka-wacka electric guitar all throughout the film help you to get your 70's fix.  Sort of a black Dirty Harry, Shaft is no fool and he plays by his own rules.  A sprinkling of bad words and a dash of violence earn this film the "R" rating, but it's a soft "R" imo. 
 
Shine your shoes, flare your collars and step out into the city night tonight and stream...

Good.  Finally a large step in the right direction.  Not just another complaint topic posted for all to see and put up with which seems to become the norm in most forums, not just this one.

I remember this movie way back when it first came out back in 1971 as a younger teenager.  A proper action movie with unique style, over-the-top action scenes, charisma, and a real boost to the largely neglected group of Americans that are not generally well treated or noticed in our society.  Especially not exploited  as many movies debuted during this time period sadly seemed to do.
