How to send a private message when all the links are missing?

Jump to solution

I, like many others have issues with remote controls eating batteries. So, reading here on the forum, I see the instructions were to send RokuDanny-R a private message with info and he/they would work on a solution (generally replacement of remotes). However, when I tried to generate a message, I found all the links (envelope icon and the link on Danny's profile page) were not available. (see attached screenshots) Since the links were missing, I tried to ask the support org. for information and after 6-7 emails, could not get an answer.

I did find a notice by Danny about spam, preventing new users from being able to send message and wonder if this had anything to do with is.

I would appreciate any feedback, since I know sooner or later I would like to use this feature.

Thanks in advance,

@gooddog

Thanks for the inquiry.

Have you tried again to see if you are able to send a PM to me? Please be aware that new members in the Community may not be readily able to send a PM in the Community.

@RokuDanny-R

None of the hyperlinks (email envelope or box on your profile) exist on my pages viewed. What's curious is that I have seen them before (when I didn't need them).  Now none of the links are present. What am I missing?

Also, along a similar line, when I published this post, it was tagged as "spam" and one of the attached pics was removed. The removed pic was of your notice you referred to about spam... I did request that it would be reviewed and it was re-posted. But have no explanation as to why?

Look forward to your reply.

Thanks in advance,

Clay

P.S. When is a member no longer "new" ?

I believe you are no longer "new" when you have a user level assigned. You should be fine.

As to the missing icons, are you using a mobile device to access the web site? Several users have reported they don't see them when using a phone, but they are there when using a desktop browser.

@atc98092

Thanks for the suggestion, but alas, I'm using Windows 10 Pro on a Dell with I-7 desktop. Actually, three desktops and one Microsoft Surface. All systems show the same effects. Tried Chrome, IE, Brave, Mozilla, etc... all giving same results.

Again, thanks for the suggestion, all inputs welcome,

Clay

O.K. Back to basics. I solved my own problem. (See below)

I have never that I recall, visited this preference setting, but it was turned off. Simply checking the "turn on private message" box made everything missing re-appear.

Thank you @RokuDanny-R  &  @atc98092 for the inputs.

Nice work. I had no idea that option was even there. 😄

Hello Clay,

I am wondering if you still have the pm option available to you. It seems that mine has disappeared and even the option you show in setting to turn it off or on has vanished from my profile anyway. Just wondering if your is still working?

Danny,

I must have posted in the wrong section cause members are asking me how to fix remote issues etc.  Is there a way for you to move or delete my post since I am clueless on how to fix anything on the Roku.  I am still not sure what I did wrong but I definitely posted in the wrong place

Thank you again for your help
