Does ROKU remove user channels that involve hate speech or false information?

Jump to solution

Shouldn't ROKU be held to the same standards as Facebook to edit or remove hateful/false conspiracy theories or blatant white supremacist propaganda videos?, or are they unable to control the content of the user channels?

I would be surprised if such channels were available in the channel store, but people can create private channels and offer them to others. Depending on the terms of agreement that Roku requires developers to agree to, there could be limits on the content offered. And Roku will absolutely remove channels that violate that agreement. But as @optikhog mentions, can you provide any examples of such channels?

Not sure if you're just trolling but here's an example of when Roku *did* remove hate speech:

The channel I’m referring to is called Truthtube. No. I am not trolling. The the channel is spreading neo nazi anti Semitic hate speech.

See, now you've reported the issue and hopefully @RokuDanny-R can get it reviewed and removed if it violates their policies.

Well, that one is in the channel store, so not a private channel. That means it was at least originally evaluated. Perhaps the content has changed since it was released. All we can do here is let @RokuDanny-R know about it, and let the company re-evaluate it.

I have never heard of this channel. But after reading this thread I was curious. Unfortunately it looks like Roku has removed the channel so I had to look it up on the internet. It looks like LaLula was referring to this:

https://avoidthemark.com/truthtube

The site has a video blog and they advertise that they have a Roku channel, TruthTube TV, where you can watch their content. It looks they post videos discussing politics, current news, and religious topics that reflect the viewpoint of the site's creator who appears to be a Christian and right leaning politically.
