Re: Ads on home page too scary for kids

Gawd......What happened to simple basic literacy and the simple basic ability to get off the couch and do something yourself?  Where are the actual (not just in chronological age)   adults which are not so dependent on someone else to run theirs and their children's lives?

Do read-or reread-my previous post above before all is lost.

Provide the needed additional protection for your beloved minors by anything from a simple "No!" to a age appropriate serious discussion of the offending ad(s)-my personal choice.  You cannot lock them up in a closet until age 18.  So you must be a loving parent and educate them yourselves!

I have a problem with ads I wish Support would go in and fix the audio...when watching movies or shows some of the ads volume goes up high and startles me..the ad I am referring to is for Carmax ..audio should remain the same with what ever volume you pick. Please fix or get rid of that ad period it is horrible late night when you set your volume down not to disturb others the CarMax ad volume is too much period get rid of it

Hi @Plumeria973

Thank you for the inquiry!
The ads that appear on the home page of your Roku device are usually targeted based on your viewing history and preferences. However, sometimes the ads may not be appropriate for children or maybe too scary for them.

Roku does provide some options to control the types of ads that are displayed on your home page. Here are some steps you can take:

  • Go to the home screen of your Roku device and select "Settings."
  • Scroll down to "Privacy" and select "Advertising."
  • Select "Limit ad tracking" to limit the type of ads that are displayed.
  • You can also choose to reset your advertising ID, which will clear your viewing history and preferences and start showing you generic ads instead.
  • Additionally, you can try enabling "Kid Mode" on your Roku device, which filters out content that is not appropriate for children.

It's also worth noting that some third-party channels may have ads that are not appropriate for children. In these cases, you may want to restrict access to those channels or monitor your child's viewing closely.

We hope it helps!

Warm regards,
Lianna

The last time my child's TV was on, I received an advertisement for a gay erotica movie with two women fully dressed from the chest up kissing each other. There is no excuse for this.
