Why am I needing to sign in (re-authenticate) weekly to CNNGo?

Jump to solution

Right now weekly or even more frequently having to keep signing in to watch CNN.  I saw some posts about powering the Roku device separately but that is not my issue because it is already being powered separately. Really frustrating (subscribed through Direct TV)

@RNC21

Assuming you're using the CNNgo app. That is built by CNN Interactive and is supposed to work in accordance with agreements with the TV providers (DirecTV, in your case). They determine how long the login is valid. Common is a month, since they will validate to ensure you still have a subscription. A week seems short, as if something isn't working just right.

A troubleshooting step would be to:

  1. Remove the app
  2. Reboot the Roku device
  3. Reinstall the app

All three steps, in that order. Omitting a step or doing them out of order won't accomplish anything.

Of course, you'll have to log in after reinstalling the app, but

That might not resolve it, but this will often will.

Yeah nothing helps with this because I’ve tried it all. It’s a CNN thing. It annoys me so bad because I have to do it every 3-4 days. I just don’t get it
