Roku Community website not working in Firefox

Jump to solution

I'm encountering some significant errors while trying to view this website (https://community.roku.com) on my Linux computer in Firefox.

Has anyone else been experiencing these issues?

Has this already been reported to Roku?

Thank you for all of your help!

The ReferenceError object represents an error when a non-existent variable is referenced.

And L1thium is a datacentric WebSocket library for the browser.

So what do you have different than stock default Firefox on Linux?  Latest Firefox on Ubuntu 2004 works fine for me.

What plugins do you have enabled?  Is Javascript disabled ? Are you running NoScript ?

Thanks so much for the kind reply!  I really appreciate it.

So to provide more info, when I go to my web browser's console, it repeatedly prints this error message: "ReferenceError: L*THIUM is not defined."

Note: The star should be replaced by the letter 'i'.

For some reason the 3rd element on the periodic table is not permitted in this forum.

Thank you so much!  You were totally right.  This error occurred because of one of my browser extensions (DuckDuckGo Privacy extension).

Your're welcome.  It's very refreshing to help a knowledgeable, appreciative user.  We sometimes get know-it-alls who think they are experts on technology because they can figure out the complexity of turning on a cell phone.

I have had problems with the Roku Community Forum for over a week now.

I use Firefox on a Windows PC. I deleted the DuckDuckGo Privacy extension for Firefox and that fixed it. When I deleted my extension I reported the issue to DuckDuckGo. Hope they fix the problem.

Thanks!

Huh ? I don't think you understand why you got the error message.

DuckDuck GO will not "fix" it as the "fix" would be to enable all that possible evil Roku data stealing that could come with using L1thium.  That is exactly the point of the Duck Duck Go Privacy Extension is to offer far less chance of data leakage but with a limited user experience.

I'm very sorry but you only have two options either use a stock browser with Roku Community Forums working (ie no Duck Duck Go Extension).

OR don't visit  Roku Community Forums and enjoy your limited tin hat foil hat experience Smiley Happy

I guess there is a third option but not very desirable is turn off all electronic devices and live in a cave.

The third option is just ridiculous but is the extreme stance on security.  The question you need to ask yourself is:  How much are you willing to give up for more security ?
