Troll now is it? Whatever. Better than constant complaining and whining Debbie Downers who depress the few remaining Roku employees left post Pandemic. Not to mention everyone else that stops by
A little hint. Why don't all of you problematic people try YouTube and reviews on other websites. That is how I solved my own Roku issues without depending on their dead phone number. Plus if those options fail, I only purchase Roku products where I can exchange them or get my money back.
The End for now. Although in about 1 1/2-2 years from now I will be back in the Roku buying market. I will be doing the above for the new not even available yet Roku devices. The beat goes on...........
Paraphrased from my own post in a discussion about the AMC+ issues lately:
I have been with Roku for 12 years. I am now done. From the constant push to buy new equipment to removing Youtube and now my year's subscription for AMC+ has stopped working. The only troubleshooting for AMC+ that seems to work is a factory reset in which case I will lose my Youtube account. I am tired of the games. If you would have left well enough alone, with the original device I bought without killing the update service and stopped playing the buy new equipment game every year or so I would still be here. But from a customer who bought at least 5-6 devices and recommended you to countless people, you have killed my desire to use your product. Congratulations on your poor performance and greedy attitude. It's going to cost you in the long run. Thanks for nothing, Roku
@ozzette you must do what is best for you. Just be aware that there is no perfect streaming player, as all fall short one way or another.
Blaming Roku for channels not being supported on older devices, really isn't fair, as Roku doesn't provide the channels. The channel developers are the biggest reason one might need to update a device, not Roku themselves. Roku has players over 8 years old that they still support with OS updates, but that still doesn't mean the latest channels will work on them. The developers keep pushing the limits of the hardware, and they really don't seem to care if it works on older devices.
That's a bunch of B.S. because some ppl having this issue are with roku tvs, etc that are NEW. So I don't buy that arguement one bit. Roku needs to make sure the channels work for their customers when the app maker cannot fix it or seemingly ignore the complaints, which is Paramount+ seems to be doing in my opinion.
it took almost a year and a half for Roku to get the Roku Media Player audio player working again with the native Roku screensaver. it wasn't completely fixed, but at least it was usable. now with this rollback to 10.0 it is useless again.
WAY TO GO TEAM ROKU!
Apparently @eggwhites57 may have discovered a fix for the AMC+ problem if you are still experiencing the 403 error code. (https://community.roku.com/t5/Playback-Issues-Audio-Video-Power/I-keep-getting-error-code-403-when-t...)
Telling the truth about Roku's **bleep** lack of support is not trashing them. It is being truthful. I have had 3 Roku streamers stop working due to power shut offs when I was streaming. Even when the signal is excellent they will not connect. I could see maybe it would be my problem if it wasn't for all 3 of them doing it and the other streamers I have (Amazon and Comcast) have had no problems at all. And trying to get help about this issue was useless. I spent over 5 hours trying to get even one of them to work to no avail after following all the instructions from the Roku community. Nothing worked. Roku will not help and I have not only wasted a bunch of money paying for 3 Rokus that are useless, I have wasted many hours trying to fix this problem. Roku has a very bad business model to be sure. They sell us things that are guaranteed to stop working and then they refuse to help with support to try to fix things. I guess that is hwo they make their money. Sell us all things which are guaranteed to stop working and then offer us the newer improved version which will also stop working. Great job. Good bye Roku. My best advice is to dump Roku and go to Amazon which actually has a support service!
You are right. There is no chat options and they only send you form responses to any request for help. They suck! I had to throw 3 Roku streamers in the trash after they would not connect to wifi after I had a power outage while streaming a show. My other streamers came right back on , no problem. But not Roku and there has been no one to help. I did everything recommended by this community and none of it worked. I would have been happy to at least get one of them working but no such luck. Roku does not have a support service.
