Thank you... finally the very simple solution! Changed the default screen theme in settings from Ocean to Roku.
1 Delete all the channel apps you are not using including YouTube but epecially the 5-6 Roku apps (tips/kids/live TV/Roku etc.)
2 Restart your device
3 add YouTube app back
4 Restart device again
5 start YouTube
this worked.
