Some teams claim amazingly large market areas. And sometimes several of them overlap so you're considered in-market for more than one team. When visiting Wilkes Barre in NW Pennsylvania several years ago I was amazed not only to be blacked out for my Pirates, but the Mets, Phillies, and Yankees as well.

If you are blacked out on a game, it usually means the game is available on a local over-the-air station or another service available in your area (even though you may not be subscribed to that service). Archived copies of the game will be available for viewing via MLB 90 minutes after the game ends.
Live game audio is still available even when video is blacked out.
