I have an old analogue tv that DOES NOT have and HDMI port. It ONLY accepts the old red white yellow cables. My old roku 1 does not function well anymore. Today I received an email from ROKU stating this device (my old roku 1) will no longer be updated. It would have been helpful if roku as a company sending this email suggested a potential replacemnt for the roku 1 but they did not. Only sent a warning and suggestion to update. SO update to what? I do not see a device that works with the old red white yellow cables. I see the question asked re what works with an analogue tv but the answers make no sense to me since a model is suggested that requires HDMI connection. can someone clarify for and old person with an old tv please. thank you
There is no such current model. There are HDMI to composite converters that you can add. I think most would recommend swapping out the TV at this point though.
Here is a link to Amazon with the HDMI to analog converters mentioned by @Strega. (https://www.amazon.com/hdmi-analog-converter/s?k=hdmi+to+analog+converter)
Although the current Roku Express (model 3930/3931) is pretty similar to the one you own currently (minus the analog cables), probably worthwhile to get the Roku Express 4k/4k+ (model 3940/3941) which will gives you a better remote, dual band capability, and more options should you acquire a new TV in the future. Currently on sale for the same price as the standard Roku Express.

If you are going to continue with your current TV, you will need the analog converter ($15), and the new Roku device ($30).
It may not receive new RokuOS/firmware updates, but it'll work the same as it currently does, apart from the apps potentially.
The key thing is the app updates - some app providers require the latest/newest or "a recent" RokuOS/firmware version/build for their app to update/work correctly, and this is what you MAY run into in the next 6-12 months and beyond (when new RokuOS versions are released).
If some future app update requires RokuOS 11.1 or higher, and your Roku 1 doesn't have it (and wont get it), then you will no longer be able to use that app (most service providers dont use/allow/permit/support multiple app versions for different models, though some do, like NetFlix and YouTube).
At some point, you may just have/want to get a newer model and use an HDMI > Composite converter with that TV, or just get both a new TV and new Roku model (both with HDMI), if you want to keep using the same apps, as @Strega suggested.
I have the same issue. I have the Roku 1 and an SD TV. The TV is from 2004 and we love it but just got an email that Hulu won't support the Roku 1 any longer. I wonder if I get the converter and a new Roku whether or not Hulu and other apps would work?
@SJU, they should, but those adapters are kind of hit and miss. Keep in mind that the 4:3 aspect ratio of old SDTVs isn't supported on any current Roku device, so you may get some kind of distortion whether it's squishing the picture to fit or adding a black bar on the top and bottom.
Thanks for the info. I don't know about this before.
