ATTENTION: If you still cant load YouTube/YouTube (or other apps):
1) Check for updates: Settings/System/System update/Check now
2) Restore the default theme: Settings/Theme/Restore default theme
3) Use a simple screensaver: Settings/Theme/Screensavers/Roku Digital Clock/Set as screensaver
4) Load YT/YTTV/apps
** EVEN IF YOU ALREADY PERFORMED THESE STEPS, DO THEM AGAIN **
In spite of posts to the contrary, THE ISSUE IS NOT RESOLVED and Roku Customer Support is stinky dog poo. I've been a YouTube TV and Roku subscriber for 4 years, and was satisfied. Recently I lost cable internet for a couple hours due to a Xfinity-Comcast outage in my area. After Xfinity restored service, it apparently reset my Roku account to new customer; and YouTube TV and YouTube apps on Roku no longer work - neither app can load to the a mysterious "network connection problem". Both YouTube and YouTubeTV continue to work perfectly on my 5 Apple devices, so it is not a Google account issue, and all other Roku apps work for me. I'm using a Roku 3800X Streaming Stick.
I followed all of the instructions on several Roku Customer Service posts about YouTube issue such as: "Resolved: Channel launch issue - "Can't run channel". DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME! None of the suggestions worked for me, but cost a lot of time.
I spoke to YouTube customer support yesterday (unlike Roku they will actually call you!) and their rep confirmed uninstalling and reinstalling their apps in Roku WILL NOT WORK. He said that YouTube is being blocked by Roku (due to a dispute which has been widely reported). The YouTube rep had no solution - but said that at "some time in the future the problem will be resolved", but also said "YouTube TV will not be back on Roku."
Adios Roku and good riddance! I've unplugged your useless streaming stick from my Samsung TV and ordered an Amazon Fire TV streaming stick (3rd generation).

@DBDukes i am aware of the difference between YouTube and YouTubeTV. It was YouTubeTV that was not loading properly. I deleted the app and then was not able to re-add it immediately. After waiting a bit, I was able to access the YouTubeTV app again. Hope others did as well
@ryanbal i eventually was able to have the YouTubeTV app reinstalled. Hope you did as well.
@Lhuber wrote:I am extremely frustrated and did the same thing. I uninstalled YouTubeTV because it was not working and can not locate the app in the search. Will YouTubeTV be restored?
This has happened to us as well. Very frustrated.
Hello,
I just found this group tonight and followed the steps. The first time I went through all the steps I chose the digital clock screensaver, then tried to load YouTube in order to access YouTubeTV and I got the same old message “can not load because can’t retrieve from the network”. So since someone had said do it again even if you have already done it, I tried it again. This time I chose the old fashioned clock screensaver. Went back to load YouTube…it worked! It started loading it fast and I was able to get YouTubeTV back just in time for my favorite show :). I hope this helps.
Cathy in Austin, TX.
Roku started this mess on Sept 14 with channels such as YouTube, Youtube TV abd AmazPrime not loading.
Now that I lost the YouTube TV app, Roku refuses to help. In addition, nothing was resolved by software updates. In fact, when updating all of my 4 Roku systems, as recommended, no updates were made. Getting ready to drop Roku and move to another system if they don't step up and provide relief, very soon.
@fredlave good try but that sequence did not restore YTTV
@Lhuber how were you able to get YTTV app restored again ?
Hello! After hours and days of frustration of trying to fix youtubetv app…I found a way!
if you go to the plain YouTube app on your Roku, on the left side, go down to youtubetv. You can then login to your account and watch it. Trust me, I was about to rip mine out of the tv!!
