Our YouTube app will not open when the thumbprint is selected. We have three Roku smart TV’s. The problem started two weeks ago. We have YouTube premium, streaming only. The only fix is to delete the app and reinstall. It no longer works on my son’s Android phone and he cannot delete YouTube.
The issue for us seems to be related to casting as the app locks up right after my son casts a video onto the TV. Although it often locks up out of nowhere.
We have tried all the fixes that are suggested in multiple threads. It is absolutely an issue with YouTube as all other apps work great.
We are really frustrated. There was a recent upgrade to YouTube, perhaps …
Needs to be addressed.

Please clarify. Are you referring to YouTube the streaming app or YouTube TV who is in a dispute with Roku?
I have two Roku's older and newest both have continued to work with the Youtube TV app since this "dumb issue" started between Roku & Youtube TV.
Never tried the YouTube app as mentioned above the Youtube TV app is still working.
It really ticks me off that a simple streaming tool could be such an issue for its users.
We would recommend checking for a system update on your Roku device (Settings > System > System update > Check now).
I've been having this problem for weeks now, and had given up on system update. When clicking on "Check now," it would tell me my system was up to date. And YouTube would still not work.
For reasons unknown, I thought I'd try, before going through the Remove/Reinstall rigamarole, the system update again.
And this time it worked. I saw the progress bar go from zero to one hundred percent, and when it was done, YouTube opened normally. Well done, Roku engineers.
Now to see how long it will stay fixed. My fingers remain crossed.

Or try a system reset settings>system>system reset>system reset

Possibly it's Roku TV's only that are affected by this problem? Maybe buy a Roku TV that's a name brand TV rather than an off brand model?

The YouTube TV app is not working. There is a dispute between YouTube and Roku. The regular streaming app of YouTube does work, however.
Doing the same thing to me
