Hi everyone,
Thanks for the posts.
As state previously in this thread, we would recommend checking for a system update on your Roku device and rebooting your Roku device to see if you are still experiencing the issue. For more information about how to check for a system update, visit our Support page here: How do I update the software on my Roku® streaming device?
If you are still seeing this issue occur after following the troubleshooting step above, please provide us with the following information:
-Roku device model
-serial number
-device ID
-software OS/version
(these can all be found in Settings > System > About)
-does this issue occur on a specific channel? if so, what channel and what version/build is the channel (this can be found be selecting the channel on the Home screen and pressing the * button)
-tracker ID when this issue occurs (when you see this issue occur, press the Home button 5 times, followed by the Back button 5 times)
-steps to reproduce the issue you are seeing
Once we have this information we will be able to pass it along to the appropriate team to investigate further.
Thanks,
Danny
The "solution" is temporary. One to three days later, the problem returns, with YouTube the only channel not launching.
We used a Roku 2, not a smart TV, until last week, when after YT froze again I picked up a Roku 3 on Craigslist. The remote that came with it appeared to have had little use, and when I tested the new Roku at home, it worked perfectly. I thought this problem was behind me.
Until just now, when again YouTube failed to open, and again I fixed it by remove/install/sign in. PITA, right?
What do we have so far?
1) It's not my Roku box. Another box has the same problem. Also, everything else about the Roku box works. On the old Roku 2 box, I tried the complete reset and system update. YT worked afterward, but only for a few days.
2) It's not the TV or the remote. They work fine for everything else.
Roku Support: help, please. Thanks. My wife is no longer impressed with my ability to get YT working. 🙂

2. just YouTube
3. Tried other options on asterisk menu but only uninstall/reinstall has worked
4. no error message - the icon does not change when clicked on and nothing is working in the background.
Same exact thing for me.
Did ALL that, it's not on our end, it's on yours . . . the internet says it's over a dispute with YouTube.
I've been having the same problem. I've tried all the steps listed above--uninstalling the app, updating roku, restarting, and reinstalling the app--at least 5 times in the past 3 days. It works for a bit, then stops. I'm having this problem with BOTH of my Roku devices:
Roku TV 7132X, Software ver. 10.0.0 build 4195-30
Roku 3 4200X, Software ver, 10.0.0 build 4195-04
I'm very frustrated with Roku right now.
They are trying to make it seem it's on our end, it's not. Everything was working fine Saturday then on Father's Day, YouTube is frozen
This issue that everyone is having is 100% related to Roku flexing their muscles on YouTube over a contact dispute. Believe me when I tell you Roku this is a fight you will lose every single one of your most loyal customers will leave in a heartbeat if you pursue this Folly
That's what I've read too, but they (Roku) are trying to say it's on our end . . . it's not. I hate that pushing the blame **bleep** all these big businesses try to pull.
Same problem YouTube is the only app not working on my Roku. When I click on it it just make the blip sound and does not try to launch. YouTube has been a mess in general lately with audio desync on all devices. I've uninstalled and restarted and checked for updates I don't think it on our end. Seems to have started when YouTube tv left Roku. It's probably something they changed in the coding when they did that.
