Finally out of things to try I turned the power off/on and there it was.
This has been going on for a while. Does Roku even acknowledge that there is a problem here ???
Maybe it's time to start asking Roku for some compensation since I'm not getting this service I pay for (YouTube Premium).

Are you referring to YouTube TV? That's different than YouTube the website and streaming app. In that case, contact YouTube TV directly.
As mentioned several times in the thread you can usually fix it by doing a system update. If that doesn't work I've had a system restart fix it. But let me say again, NEITHER OF THESE THINGS ARE ACCEPTABLE. I PAY FOR YOUTUBE PREMIUM. HAVING TO DO ANY PROCESS PRIOR TO BEING ABLE TO GET A CHANNEL TO LOAD IS A HASSLE AND ROKU NEEDS TO FIX THIS OR IF IT'S AN ISSUE WITH THE ACTUAL CHANNEL APPLICATION THEN THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED. THERE HAS TO BE A REASON THIS JUST STARTED HAPPENING A FEW WEEKS AGO.
Sorry for the shouting. It doesn't usually take over 3 weeks to get Roku to resolve a problem. When it's related to a popular channel I'd think it would be a priority.

I am having trouble with the "YouTube" channel (Version 2.20) that I pay to have Premium access and Roku is my gateway to that service. I thought everyone was referring to the same channel as I and not the "YouTube TV" channel.
Thank-goodness for someone finally finding a temporary work around and sharing it but why is this still happening? Plenty of people have posted the same issue.
I'm just saying I'm getting sick and tired of having to deal with this.

YouTube has been working for me for a week straight now. I have a 2018 Sharp Roku TV. I was able to get YouTube to work for me by only restarting my TV, no need for me to uninstall reinstall YouTube or check for an update.
I'm glad some are not having the issue but I'm guessing that most are based on the number of posts in this thread.

And I'll say it again it is not Roku's problem. they do not own manage or maintain YouTube. If you have a laptop or another device, go to the YouTube website and go to the support section of that website and submit a problem to YouTube directly.

Okay, got ya. Maybe check for an update for the channel I have version 2.20, and it works fine. But highlight the channel icon in the Home Screen and click the *, the options button and the following menu will come up Rate the app, Move channel, remove channel, check for updates , give us feedback, close. Go ahead and select check for updates, and select Ok. and it will check to see if there are any updates available. I just did that, and it said that YouTube is up to date. If it isn't, the latest version will download and install.
I don't know if it's clear if the problem is Roku's, YouTube's, or some combination; do you know otherwise? I haven't seen an official response from Roku beyond the boilerplate "check for system updates" message. As is the case with others, the problem comes and goes, so any "it works now!" messages in this thread should be taken with a grain of salt, at least for now.
Thanks!
Bruce
Congratulations on the canned generic response that does NOTHING. Everyone knows this is on Roku’s end and not ours. Get it together and fix it!
Along with the fiasco of the Streaming stick plus not working / no signal issue - I finally got that one fixed and then tried the YOUTUBE app install on the new stick and it (YOUTUBE) worked just fine. So I figured I'd try the 3rd roku unit in the other bedroom that also had not worked before yesterday and after installing the STICK it works on all 3 now.
Makes no sense - and yet in a way, it does.
ROKU devices poop out? Don't tell me you have to keep on buying new ones to get this thing going! Wouldn't that be a shock? hehe
not really
