As Drongo reported, the problem continues to come back. So far, doing the system update seems to resolve it, at least for a day or two, and then you have to go through the process again. It makes no sense why YouTube is the only app being affected in between the automatic daily updates.
It has worked fine up until today. I have uninstalled, rebooted and reinstalled. The YouTube channel shows up in my channel list but will not launch. Any suggestions?
Known solutions/workarounds for YT app not loading:
1) Change your Theme to the Roku Default (Settings/Theme/Restore default theme) - try again
2) Change your Screensaver to a Roku clock (Settings/Theme/Screensavers) - try again
3) Check for updates (Settings/System/System updates/Check now) - try again
4) Remove YT app, RESTART ROKU (Settings/System/System restart), Add YT app - try again
5) Network connection reset (Settings/System/Advanced system settings) - try again
6) Completely unplug power from Roku TV for 10-15 minutes - try again
7) Factory reset (Settings/System/Advanced system settings) <--- last resort
this happened to me twice over the weekend. Both times I had to uninstall youtube channel, reboot roku and reinstall youtube to get it to work. Very annoying . If this continues I will use my apple tv or firetv to watch youtube
This works to get the app to open and function properly:
Settings/System/System Update/Check Now
I too am having this problem. The YouTubeTV app was installed on my Roku before any disputes between the two companies. I went on vacation and when I came back, the YouTubeTV app would not work. When I select the app, the screen goes blank then returns to the app selection screen. No error codes.
I suspect there was a general update to the software because my remote also would not work. I had to do a system reset then add the remote back in. It kept calling my remote a "gaming" remote.
This is only happening on my Roku ultra model 4660x2. I own several ultra models as well as streaming sticks and this is not happening on any other of the Roku devices. This is the same box that the sound would become degraded after usage and you had to unplug the device and start it up again.
I wish Roku would address this issue.
This has happened to me periodically all week. It just now loaded on one of my TVs, but not the other (Roku box). I have reloaded, rebooted, etc this week.
This is clearly a Roku issue. Please fix.
Hi @rpmiles @johnm1001,
Thanks for reaching out regarding the playback issue you are experiencing with Youtube.
We suggest trying to remove the channel again, update the Roku device by going to Settings > System > System update > Check now, restart your Roku device, and add back the channel.
Please try doing this and see if it helps with what you're experiencing.
Thanks,
Mary
Tried everything suggested, there is clearly an issue on rokus side.
I cannot find the replies. I looked at these posts & it says 22 replies but how do I see them please? I am having the same issue. All of a sudden I can't get You Tube TV
I am not tech savvy at all so I came to this board to read but I do not know how to read the replies. Someone else posted the same issue on this thread but the response was basically "he already put it in the psot - read the post". Where do I find the post & how do I read the replies?
I am lost.
Thank you.
