YouTube for Roku now has several playback issues

Hello all

I've been using Roku devices for at least 15 years now.

Youtube is easily the most used channel I have on the device. I honestly prefer it to most regular broadcast TV.

Starting with the last few updates to the channel, numerous playback issues have begun to appear. This is true on two different Roku devices I run:

Model 420X - Roku Premiere

4230X - Roku 3

If I try to play any video from the main / home screen, the video will play without any issue.

However if I try to play from my "Watch Later" or any other playlist, or my "History", or "Subscriptions", this is what happens repeatedly:

- Pre-roll ads play with zero issues.

- Video starts to play and then abruptly stops (seconds in) showing the following alert:

A network error has occurred

YouTube is unavailable. Please try again later

And a button for:

Exit YouTube

It does this repeatedly.

This has rendered the YouTube channel VIRTUALLY UNUSABLE to me. I cannot be the sole person this is happening to. My network is just fine, and as mentioned, this DOES NOT HAPPEN if I just watch videos from the main / home view.

Additionally: I notice that since the last update, if I try to click and hold to select "Not Interested", the app now plays the video.

This is a SUPER ANNOYING BUG!

Will ANYBODY at Google or Roku please investigate these SUPER ANNOYING issues? Your app is RUINING the YouTube viewing experience!

Angrily!

Adam D.

Re: YouTube for Roku now has several playback issues

Note that, the outside channel suppliers create, deliver, and maintain their own channel apps for running on Roku. Roku just provides the platform in which they run.

For the last several weeks Google has been futzing around with both its YouTube and YouTube TV apps. A variety of problems have come and gone with each new update Google has made to their apps.
