YouTube and YouTube TV won't load on my 2 Roku 3800R Sticks. It may have something to do with the latest update, but I don't know.  I'm getting the message,  "YouTube could not be run because it could not be reinstalled from the network please check your network connection and try again." My Roku Premiere, Roku 2, Roku Express, and Roku TV are all getting both, but not the two sticks.

Try:

1) Network connection reset (Settings/System/Advanced system settings)

2) Change theme to Roku Default (Settings/Theme/Theme packs)

3) Change screensaver to a Roku clock (Settings/Theme/Scrensaver)

4) Check for updates (Settings/System/System update/Check now)

I actually tried all of the tips and none of them worked, but I thought I would try it somewhat backwards when I saw that someone changed from the aquatic life screensaver to the Roku clock and it worked for them. So, I installed the aquatic life screensaver, and that caused my YouTube channel to start working.

Now the problem is spreading to my other Roku sticks. I read awhile ago that Roku and YouTube disagree on video format issues. It appears they have gone their separate ways. Options are to get rid of Roku, or YouTube or both and go back to cable.

I tried so many different things that I forgot which one finally worked. I have 7 Roku sticks and TVs. This is a real nightmare for my low tech mind. Seriously considering cable again.

In the same boat. Only last evening, came home to find YT not working on my 3 Roku devices. Unfortunately, deleted TYTV on one before looking at advice to NOT do that. And, I suppose because of the Roku account being the same in all devices, TYTV app disappeared on all 3 devices. And the YT will not reinstall because of the "network error message." Glad to see you had success just trying all of the recommended things on this thread. I did most with not joy. Will have to try changing my theme & clock etc, Maybe factory reset. Did all your devices begin to work with correction of one? Or did you have to do all steps on each device?

@Andpow

It should be resolved now - check for updates and/or restart if it isnt.

Thanks. At work now. Will check when return home. Are you saying there was a known issue yesterday?

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the posts and your patience while we worked to resolve this issue. We have identified the cause and this issue has now been fixed.

For clarification, if you are experiencing an issue with Youtube (or other channels) that state the channel could not run because it could not be reinstalled from the network, please apply the latest fix by following the instructions below to manually check for a software update.

  1. Press the Home button on your Roku remote.
  2. Scroll up or down and select Settings.
  3. Select System.
  4. Select System update.
  5. Select Check Now to manually check for update.

If you are experiencing another issue, not related to what has been described above, we would recommend creating a new post stating what the issue is in detail.

We will be closing this thread out.

Thanks,
Danny
