Re: YouTube could not be run, could not be reinstalled from the network

OMG Thank you so much for this....... After the recent update I was getting the reinstallment error message due to network connection and it was driving me crazy..... I don't use Youtube TV just the free youtube and like having it on my tv.  Wasn't having any issues until this latest update and I think a lot of that had to do also with the issues with Roku and Youtube tv.   I didn't have to uninstall the app I just did your other suggestion to change my theme pack to default ( I had it on the fish) and then restarted my device and then went to load youtube and it loaded.  Yes I had to resign into my youtube account but Yay it is working again.  I have twins who are in distance learning and some of their lessons they use youtube videos and I find it easier for them to have the assignment that they have to fill out the work open on their laptops and watch the video on the tv.  So glad I came here and found the fix.  Thank You so so so much!

You're welcome - you may be able to switch back to a more complex theme and/or screensaver, but if it happens again, you'll have to use the default/simple themes/screensavers (at least until Roku addresses this memory usage issue).

I ended up having to do a complete reset on both of my roku's and that solves the problem

Factory reset did the trick. Both of them are working

Factory reset does work as a last resort with many issues, including post-firmware-updates ones (some insist on factory resetting any device after a firmware upgrade as a matter of general practice).

Re: YouTube

My YouTube (NOT TV) quit working around May 4 or 5, I guess when Google and Roku started fighting. I have been troubleshooting on and off through the month. I kept getting the error "too many channels - remove one or more". Removing some didn't work. I tried uninstall and reinstall - didn't work. I have been searching the web for answers. Roku Corp. has been no help. I found the suggestion to change the themes, screensavers, wallpaper - mine are all default. I changed them anyway. No good. I finally broke down and tried the hard factory reset. YouTube is working.

So now I have to reinstall YouTube every day. No customer service. The blind leading the blind in here. BS.

@Rob69 Your Premiere, based on what your account shows, is the original model released late 2016. So it's approaching 5 years old. Now Roku still supports that player, no problem there. But Google has a bad habit of making their Roku YouTube channel work poorly on devices when they get older. My 2 XS was worthless for YouTube when it was about 5 years old as well. Nothing Roku can do about it unfortunately. Google is the only one that controls the functionality of their apps.

Oh, I may have listed the wrong premier as I just got it on Amazon list year when my old one finally died. I just checked, it is model 3920x.

Also I discovered they all seem to lack memory. I deleted a few channels I don't use and went back to the generic screen. Now it's all good..until the memory gets low again, anyway.
